Midwest, Central and Northeast Ice Storm

"A major ice and snow storm barreled through much of the US Tuesday and Wednesday leaving a trail of wrecked vehicles, downed trees and power outages.

As the storm swept through the region Oklahoma feeding teams were cooking in two locations, Arkansas teams were feeding in 5 areas and Missouri had one feeding team engaged. Plans are in place to begin moving some local teams out on Thursday to begin assisting with chainsaw work and to assess the situation.

Tennessee, Kentucky and Illinois have also reported significant icing from the storm and will be assessing the situation Thursday.

The need for assistance with chainsaw work will be evaluated on Thursday. At this time none of the affected states has asked for assistance from other states. State leaders continue to keep the National Disaster Relief leadership apprised of conditions in their states."

From NAMB DR on Dec. 19,2008

"As this year draws to a close winter storms are pummeling many parts of the country and in New England thousands are still without power. Recovery units have responded in several areas to local needs and our state directors continue to monitor situations as they unfold. At this time there are no multi-state responses underway."
